Congress bats for EDMs; wants it for ‘revenue’

The Congress Party did what the alliance government has still not done. It has given a clean chit to EDMs on Friday. Congress state president Shantaram Naik said that EDMs were necessary to generate income for the state and said that there are no drugs sold at EDMs venues.

He said that these drugs were consumed after the festival ended during the night.

The EDMs have been touted as places where drugs are being consumed and the controversy whether to hold or not to hold and where to hold has split the alliance government in half.

So this support and virtual clean chit by the Congress leadership will give a big boost to the EDM supporters within the government. Shantaram a long time Congress MP, also wants an independent legislation to govern party timings in the state.
