Fish sellers from the Vasco fish market demanded that authorities close down roadside stalls that are selling fish all over the town.

They say that because of this, customers do not come to the market. The TCP Minister  has said the Margao retail fish market will be renovated.

Local fish sellers say that they are suffering losses. They say people find it convenient to buy fish from roadside sellers rather than go to the market. The local fish sellers have demanded that the authorities not allow roadside vending of fish.

They have threatened to launch an agitation if the government does not respond to their demand promptly.

TCP minister Vijai Sardesai has planned to renovate the retail fish market in Margao by January.

He assured that Madganvkars will get clean, hygienic and affordable fish soon. The fish market is set to be renovated at a cost of 98 lakh rupe
