Sal farmers threaten stir over water supply

16 Nov 2017 05:38 PM

Farmers from Sal in Bicholim have threatened to launch an agitation if the government fails to provide water for their fields in time.

They say that earlier they suffered heavy losses because of the delayed  arrival of water from the Tillari dam.

Around 100  farmers in  Sal have their plantain cultivation  and rice  fields on the upper side of the village. After monsoon, the farmers fully depend on Tillari water.

But invariably there is delay in supply of water. Their crops wither and die. Hence the farmers suffer heavy losses.
