Margao women police station infrastructure, treatment of victims deplorable

25 Aug 2017 07:36 PM

The Margao women’s police station needs improvement as far as infrastructure is concerned and the way the women staff treat the victims who seek help and protection.

Women’s activists Auda Viegas and Tara Kerkar have criticized the state of the Margao Women’s police station,  both infrastructure wise as well as the behavior of its personnel.

Tara says that women come to the police station because normal police stations are headed by male PIs and women are not comfortable relating their problems to the males. So women’s police stations have been formed.

But the staff of the Margao station are rude and not very sympathetic to the victims.
