Goa could be the cleanest state in the country: Governor

Governor Dr Mridula Sinha, on Monday, said that Goa being a small state has bright chances to become the number one state under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.



Dr Mridula Sinha was speaking during the launching of awareness drive on cleanliness organised by Murmugao Municipal Council in Vasco.


The function was attended by MMC chairperson Deepak Naik, deputy chairperson Shashikant Parab, chief officer of MMC Agnelo Fernandes, who is holding additional charge in the absence of Deepali Naik.

The MMC has cleaned around 600 to 700 spots which are garbage dumping zones, he said adding that these black spots have now become beautiful spots.

On the occasion, the students of Vaddem Nagar High School and Our Lady of Desterro High School performed a skit which was based on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan respectively.

The function was followed by a rally, which was flagged off by the Governor.
