Farmers worried as scrapyard releases chemical in paddy field

The scrapyard emptied some metallic containers in a  nallah, the rain water transported the same to the nearby fields.

The locals have demanded strict action against the scrapyard owner.

The chemical substance mixed with rain water entered the paddy fields.

Local residents some of whom belong to the ST community who cultivate the fields have demanded strict action against the scrap yard owner. 

Local councilor Terence  Barbosa has also demanded that the chemical be analysed to check its effects on the paddy.
