Why society ill-treats Leprosy patients even today, asks Dr Amte

eminent social activist Dr. Vikas Amte has questioned why the leprosy patients are not considered worth being in the flow of mainstream life by the authorities.



He says government and other authorities have recognized Leprosy as a curable disease yet the patients are ill treated by the society.


Dr. Vikas Amte is an innovator, a scientist who has carried forward the legacy of work of his father Magsaysay Awardee Baba Amte and is working for the well being of Leprosy patients in Anandvan in Maharashtra. He has also curated a multidisciplinary Musical programme of this patients’ Swaranandvan, which is invited even abroad however they also have to face big problem since these patients are not given any official identity documents by the authorities.
