We have to encourage youngsters to read: writer Amonkar

Educationist and writer Suresh Amonkar says civilization progresses only because knowledge progresses.



He said we have to encourage youngsters to read so as to gain knowledge.

Suresh was the chief guest at a function organised to celebrate  World Library Day at Krishnadas Shama Goa State Central Library in Panaji on Saturday.

The Central library is the oldest library in Asia. It was started in 1832 making it 185 years old.

The library has been shifted from downtown Panaji to Patto Plaza.

The occasion saw the release of five books published by Krishnadas Shama central library, namely Byelaws/ Rules of devasthan/ temples in Goa 1881-1958, Indo-Portuguese Review (1918-1930), Suchi – Bibliography of books published under Book Delivery Act 1954, annual report 2016-17, and Tiatr Machi – an Anthology of articles on Tiatr Part I.
