Pre-monsoon rain hits very hard in Goa, paralyses life partially

Pre Monsoon rains finally hit Goa on Wednesday morning.



And hit very hard in some parts of Goa, with overflooding, water clogging, uprooting of trees and even some accidents. But fortunately no casualties.


The MET department says it would continue for one or two days.


The rains that lashed all over the state on Wednesday flooded the roads, fields in all the towns and villages including the Capital city Panaji.



Water clogging in places like Sangolda and Porvori also resulted in traffic blocks at some places.


Incomplete works of drains resulted in flood like situations in Mapusa market where shopkeepers were compelled to clear the muddy drains.


The state of affairs was no different in madgao market. It was also flooded at knee length in some places.


The heavy rains also resulted in road accidents at places like Naveli.


The port town of Vasco also suffered due to rains.TheMurgao Municipality workers were working to clear the chocked up nullahs even in the rains.


Some parts of Valpoi were also flooded after the rains. The Belgav Sanvorde road remained blocked almost for after a tree fell in the middle of road. The Fire brigade rushed to the spot and cleared the road for traffic; they informed that even more calls were pending.
