Goa witnessed heavy showers on Monday. But this is neither monsoon nor pre-monsoon showers.

It’s a rain occurred due to too much of heat. The monsoon will arrive on 6th June, as usual. And we’ll start getting pre-monsoon shower three to four days before that. But fire brigade had to respond to 10 calls from different parts of Goa. But not major damage anywhere.

Director of Goa Observatory M L Sahu said that Valpoi recorded maximum rainfall of 42 mm. The rain occurred due to local weather system and nothing to do with monsoons. But it brought a great relief to Goans and tourists on Monday after unbearable scorching heat on Sunday.

The rains also came with strong winds in some areas of Goa. The Fire Brigade officials had to be on their toes in the morning.

The sudden rain also resulted into heavy traffic jam in and around the capital city, especially on the old Mandovi bridge.

Madgao also witnessed incidents of water logging, minor accidents as well as power cuts in various parts of the city …
