Tehelka’s former editor in chief Tarun Tejpal has finally been charged by the court for raping his junior colleague four years ago in Goa.

But the trial depends on what the high court says on 1st of November. And Tejpal is also planning to approach the Supreme Court if required.

The high court had allowed the Mapusa court to frame charges against Tejpal.

But the court has been restrained from hearing main witnesses till it disposes the petition filed by Tejpal.

And the charges framed against Tejpal are like this:

TEJPAL CHARGES

·         Rape by a person in a position of trust & authority

·         Rape while being in a position of control or dominance

·         Advances involving explicit sexual overtures

·         Making sexually coloured remarks

TEJPAL CHARGES

·         Assault with intent to disrobe the woman

·         Wrongful restraint

·         wrongful confinement

Public prosecutor Adv Francis Tavora said Tejpal argued that the high court has also restrained Mapusa court from framing charges against him.

But it was rejected by the court.

Tejpal’s lawyer Adv Rajiv Gomes said the real outcome of the whole exercise would depend upon what stand the high court takes.

And if required, they will also approach the Supreme Court.
