Goa’s 1st Grand Master Anurag Mhamal arrives in Goa

Goa’s 1st and India’s 48th Grand Master Anurag Mhamal arrived in Goa on Monday.



Anurag achieved his third and the final Grand Master norm at the just concluded Pardubice Czec Open Grand Master chess Tournament held at Pardubice Czec.

Dempo Goodwill Ambassador Anurag Mhamal scored 6 points out of 9 rounds and with the performance rating of 2603, achieved his last and the final norm to qualify for Grand Master title.

He will now reach to 2452 Elo rating and needs more 48 Elo points so as to officially get the title certificate from World Chess Federation.

He was welcomed at the Dabolim International Terminal by his family, friends and Goa chess Assocaition members and supporters.

In addition his coach Aakash Thakur specially came from Nagpur to welcome and greet him.
