Com tops in Std XII results, Sc pushed down

Students of Commerce stream continued topping the passing percentage in the results of 12th standard once again this year while the number of Science students was pushed down to the third position.



Goa Board declared the results on Thursday with overall 88.77 per cent passing percentage. It is slightly less than the last year, but more students have passed this year than the last year.

 Almost 1111 more students had appeared this year than the last year for the 12th standard exams in Science, Commerce, Arts and Vocational streams.

In terms of percentage, little less than one per cent is the result this year. But in terms of number of students, 781 more students have passed. The total number of passed out students is 14 thousand 666.

This is a consecutive second year that the Commerce students are topping the list among passed out students. It was almost 92 per cent last year, while it’s 91 per cent this year.

Vocational students came up to second position this year with 88.15 per cent while the percentage of Science students was little less – 88.12 per cent. Comparatively, Art stream result came down to 87.53 per cent when it was 89 per cent last year.

 Goa Board chairman also said that 168 students have passed by availing sports merit marks.

But this was from among 3266 students, who had availed sports marks. The Board has scrapped October exams. They will hold supplementary exams on 8th of June for the failed students.
