Scaffolding of Zuari flyover collapses, 4 people injured

Whole Goa was shaken up with the news. On Wednesday, in the afternoon during peak hours, the scaffolding of Zuari flyover on Verna-Cortalim slope suddenly collapsed. Major tragedy was averted as it fell on the hill side, not on the roadside. But four workers were injured. Kuthali Panchayat has demanded that PWD Minister Sudin Dhavlikar should form a team for the safety at the road construction site.



Scaffolding is a temporary structure of iron stilts erected for bridge construction. It suddenly collapsed at around 12.30 in the afternoon when traffic flow was continuous on the slope. Four workers were grievously injured and they were shifted to GMC hospital in Bambolim. But look at this. People were lucky as it collapsed on the side of the hill. What could happen if it had collapsed on the roadside? Asks Kuthali deputy sarpanch Ramond D'sa.A local from Kuthali, Devendra Kenkre was passing by when the incident occurred. He blames the government. And also suggests that government should take such incidents seriouslyDilip Buildcon is constructing this flyover. Company suspects that the structure collapsed due to soft soil. It also claims that the company has a clean record since it started constructing flyovers in 2016.
