2 boats capsize at Betul, 3 rescued

Within 24 hours 2 fishing boats capsized at Betul. The incidents happened at the mouth of Sal river. One boat sank last night while the other one sank on Monday afternoon. Luckily there were no casualties and 3 workers were rescued by life guards.

Boat owners have said that the reason the boats sank was probably due to the lack of proper retaining wall at the mouth of the river and to the entrance to the jetty.

Boat owners have demanded that the Government and especially fisheries department should build a retaining wall at the mouth of the river to avoid such incidents in future.
