The incident of the taxi operators holding American tourists hostage at MPT has not only dented Goa’s image but India’s too. However, when it comes to taking action,

it seems the government is all bark and no bite. The question now is, when will the government will walk the talk?

The incident which occurred last week saw some taxi operators assault coach drivers at MPT harbor who were there to collect American cruise passengers. The tourists were then held in a hostage-like situation.

This led the tourists to board the ship and leave without visiting Goa. Sources say this incident forced the ship captain not to dock his ship at his next destination in Kochi and carryon the voyage to the next country. The incident has also been reported to the Indian Embassy in the US which is now following up on the matter. Here’s what Chief Minister had to say on the matter.

Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte was also questioned on the incident. Rohan criticized the incident. We are supporting local taxi operators but there are few who are trying to establish a monopoly. A tourist taxi app will be launched by January, which will streamline this business. Roan asserted.
