Declining foreign tourist numbers need to be addressed: Mauvin

We are getting priced out of the market. We need to rectify that if we want to correct the trend of decreasing charter and foreign tourist. Only taxi drivers are not to be blamed for over pricing, the Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho sounded this warning on Independence day.

He also spoke about the job situation saying that youth have to get jobs in the state if they are to remain in Goa.

So we should not oppose all types of development blindly.

Tourism numbers of foreign tourists and charters is on the decline. Nothing is being done t address this as numbers of local tourists is on the rise.

However, a large number of these local tourists come with their own vehicles, carry their own provisions, even cooks and many sleep either in their vehicles, on the roads or cheap dorms, hardly contributing to the local GDP.
