Congress demands inquiry into tourism delegation to US

The Congress party on Sunday demanded an inquiry into the tourism department’s week-long United States tour.



They have demanded that the inquiry look into the expenditure incurred for the trip. Theyhave questioned composition of the tour party asking whether families of officials were also part of the delegation.

According the Congress spokesman Amarnath Panjikar, the delegations also included officials from the ASI and Excise department.

The Congress wondered what the significance of these officials in a tourism delegation which was ostensibly to increase tourists flow into the state from the US.

Panjikar also asked why the delegation had gone when US tourist arrivals remain at less than 2% of the state’s total tourist footfall.

Monday is the 27th death anniversary of former Prime Minster, Rajiv Gandhi, the Congress is organizing eye donation program, block convention to commemorate the occasion.
