All tourism NOC’s to water sports frozen

No new NOCs by the tourism department permissions to water sports activities will be given, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said today. He said that these would be restarted only after issues pertaining to this were sorted ourt. The minister, acknowledging the importance of beach cleaning said that they needed to improve the beach cleaning and tourist safety measures.

Rohan was speaking after the inauguration of online services for Tourism Department in Secretariat. Rohan said Captain of Ports department was giving permission to water sport without checking whether that person had an NOC from the Tourism department or not. Now the tourism NOC would be required first before getting the permission from the Captain of Ports, he said, adding that there was a need to sort out issue pertaining to the water sport industry and until then new NOCs will be kept on hold.
