National Games in Nov in Goa with 6 news sports

Finally, the National Games will be organised in the state this year. Albeit, towards the year end... in November.



The Games will see six new sports making their debut in National Games. Sports Minister, Babu Azgaonkar reviewed the preparations of organisation of National Games on Tuesday.

Sports Minister Babu Azgaokar is upbeat about organizing the National Games in Goa. He said more stadiums will have to be built, and built in time.

As Goa does not have the infrastructure for the sports, rifle shooting will be outsourced either to Kerala or Delhi. Azgaonkar said that the National Games are an opportunity for the Goan Sports and sportsmen and 32 events of sports will be organised at 32 different places all around the State.

 Chairman, Games Technical Conduct Committee, Indian Olympic Association, Mukesh Kumar; V M Prabhudessai, Director, Sports Authority of Goa; Gurudatta Bhakta, Secretary, Goa Olympic Association and other officials were present. 450 crore rupees has been sanctioned by the union government for the games and infrastructure work worth 300 crore rupees is currently under way.
