GCA loses its stadium, HC orders to hand it over to Edu Dept

A major decision from the high court. The Goa Cricket Association will lose its stadium and cricket ground in Porvorim.



Because it was illegally acquired by then President Dayanand Narvekar.

It will be now handed over back to the education department. And FIR would be filed against Narvekar and others.

Harihar Chodankar had approached the high court in this regard.

He told Goa 365 that former GCA president Dayanand Narvekar had transferred the land of education department to GCA during his tenure as IT Minister.

On Tuesday, the division bench of Justice Mahesh Sonak and Justice Prithviraj Chavan upheld his contention.

Because the home department also told the court that it has directed North Goa Collector to recover the property and hand it over to Education Department.

Also to initiate criminal proceedings against the concerned authorities.
