World Cup: Fever sweeping the cricketing world as tournament kicks off

Cricket fever is sweeping the cricketing world as the World Cup has begun.



The first world cup was held in 1975 and after that in the past 44 years there were 11 after that.


India hit world cup glory after they defeated the mighty West Indies in 1983.


This year in the 12th edition 10 teams are fighting to lift the world cup that is being Hled in England and Wales.


Australia has won the most number of world cups -5.


The mighty west Indian team of the yester years won the first two editions till they were briought down to earth by rank underdogs India in 1983.


Out of the top teams, Hosts England and South Africa have still not won a world cup.


This could be their chance, say many experts.


The Semi finals will be played on 9th and 11th of July while the finals will take place on 14th of July.
