No meters, taxi owners adamant; stay on order filed in HC

Taxi operators are adamant. They won't fix meters at any cost.



Ironically, the All Goa Pvt Bus Owner Association president Sudip Thamhankar said that the High Court has not made meters compulsory, but it is the the government who approached the courts.


High Court has ordered State Government to make taxi operator compulsory fix digital meters by 24 July.


However, All Goa Pvt Bus Owners Association president Sudip Thamhankar has filed a stay on the order in high court.


Taxi Union leader Bappa Korgaonkar threatened that they would prefer to cancel theor permits and do baddas in private vehicles.


They have given 7 days ultimatum to government to scrap the notice of fixing the digital meters.
