NGO serves notice to MMC, warning it to stop payments to 2 agencies

Shadow Council for Margao served a notice upon the chairperson and Chief Officer of Margao Municipal Council to not make any further payments from the Municipal treasury, to door to door waste collection agencies.

Alleging that both the said agencies have been fraudulently billing the Council in excess of the services provided, the NGO claimed that the work order of given to one of the agencies is illegal, as the same was issued without following any Codal formalities.

The contract was also given to an agency that was allegedly terminated for it's attempt to defraud the municipal treasury and an agency on which an FIR was filed for the same.
