Goa to get very heavy rainfall on Wed, take care of local flooding: IMD

Looks like the rain is not going to take a rest. Goa reported 389 cms of rainfall this season 34% higher than normal. This year's rainfall could also overtake last years rainfall of 394 cms in few days, IMD says. Goa to witness heavy rainfall exceeding 12 cms on Tuesday. It would cause water logging and floods in low lying areas. The rivers may swell leading to localise flooding, informed IMD.



IMD said Goa reported heavy rainfall exceeding 12 cms in two regions of Goa in last 24 hours. Sanguem recorded highest rainfall of 14 cms, followed by Ponda and Sankhali 14 cms, Valpoi and Quepem 12 cms, Madgao 9 cms, Pernem and Cancona 8 cms and Tiswadi 7 cms. The rainfall activity will be enhanced due to low pressure areas and sheer zone in Bay of Bengal and weaker circulation in Maharashtra Coast. Red color warning has been issued by IMD and region vulnerable to weather disasters require monitoring and precautions. Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea, the IMD said.
