Sancoale panchayat inspects dump of Malaysian sand

Sancoale panchayat held an inspection to check the legality of a dump filled with sand from Malaysia.



Sancoale panchayat sarpanch Girish Pillai said that the company that had imported the sand had not paid trade tax and fees nor taken any permission from panchayat.


The sancoale ex sarpanch ramakant borker alleged that the company had created sand scarcity in Goa, by taking support of NGO in demanding strict rules on sand extraction in Goa .


The sancoale panchayat member also raised concern whether Malaysian Sand is allowed by mines department , Goa pollution board and other authority.


The panchayat has warned the logistics to pay tax and take permission failing which legal action will be taken.
