The panchayat minister Mauvin Godinho said that people are simply creating controversy over the postponement of the panchayat elections. He said that the government had just changed the dates because of the various festivals and the file was with the State election commission.

MGP's Sudin Dhavalakar had recently given a deadline to the government to announce the reservations.

He had also demanded that the election be kept on 20 of April because of the college elections, accusing the government of misplaced priorities.
