Sanguem Police has booked a police constable as well as deputy sarpanch and panch of Neturlim for assaulting a man in the police custody.

Victim is a husband of Shivsena vice-president Rakhi Amit Naik Prabhudessai.

The accused were booked after Rakhi lodged FIR with South Goa SP.

In March last year, Amit Naik was issued non bailable summons by a Pune court in connection with a financial dealing and was arrested by police in Sanguem village.

Speaking to the media Shivsena vice presiden Rakhi Naik Prabhudesai had alleged that her husband was beaten up in police custody by a police constable, Deputy Sarpanch, panch, and another person.

Shiv Sena Goa had submitted memorandum to Director General of Police Muktesh Chandar seeking investigation into the custodial assault.

She has demanded that constable should be suspended from services and the accused be arrested immediately.
