After Ramesh Tawadkar, BJP has succeeded in pacifying another major leader. Former Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar.

Till yesterday, he was threatening to contest as an independent if Dayanand Sopte is made the Mandrem by-poll candidate. Now, he has decided to work for the party and even campaign for Sopte.

Parsekar had come out openly against party president Vinay Tendulkar after BJP readmitted Congress MLA Dayanand Sopte. He had even organised an impressive rally in his support.

In retaliation, Tendulkar had challenged him to get into second position in Mandrem by-poll, forget winning. But now Parsekar says he doesn’t want to to fall prey to such provocations by leaders like Tendulkar. Watch how he has mellowed down.

Parsekar denies that he changed his stand after meeting chief minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday, when he had switched off his phone after reaching Panaji.

He is not only prepared to attend the state election committee meetings but also campaign for his rival Dayanand Sopte.

Looks like BJP is working overtime for damage control when Parrikar is not on the scene and the overall situation has gone against the party since last Assembly election.
