North Goa Congress candidate Girish Chodankar has said he would implement the President’s Order 1960, which makes it compulsory to employ local Konkani speaking youth in central government institutions.

 According to Chodankar, all the central government establishments follow three-language formula in all the states, but has not been implemented in Goa till date. As per this provision, only those knowing Konkani, besides English and Hindi should be appointed at all the posts which come in contact with the local population. They cannot even be transferred outside Goa. 

Girish said that this promise is as per an order by the president as far back as 1960.

Congress spokesman Trajan D' Mello criticised the decision of the election commission to throw out the complaint filed by him on appointment of the deputy chief ministers.

हे तरतुदीप्रमाण इंग्लीश आनी हिंदीवांगडा कोंकणी येतल्या भुरग्यांकच गोंयांतल्या केंद्रीय आस्थापनांनी नोकरी दिवची पडटा.
