Congress wants monsoon assembly session extended

25 Jun 2018 06:33 PM

The Congress on Monday has demanded an extended monsoon assembly session. The upcoming 12-day session begins on the 19th July. The meeting also decided on party strategy over two contentious issues like CRZ notification and the Mopa airport.

The CLP has decided to oppose the recent CRZ draft notification.

The Congress Legislative party will submit a memorandum to the speaker on increasing the number of days of the monsoon session.

Previous assembly session in February was curtailed from 22 days to 4 days due to the ill health of the chief minister.

Congress says the rules of the house proceedings say the upcoming session should have a minimum of 18 days.

Congress also registered its opposition on current CRZ draft notification.

The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change had issued the Draft Coastal Regulation Zone Notification seeking suggestions.

The notification was issued on 18th of April and 60 days were given for the suggestions to be sent.
