Cong wants in Goa what they oppose in Karnataka

17 May 2018 07:05 PM

The Congress party has challenged before the Supreme Court Karnataka Governor’s action of inviting the largest single party, that is BJP, to form the government.

But in Goa, the same Congress has demanded that Goa Governor should also invite them, the Congress, because they are the single largest.

Goa was used as an argument by the Congress in Karnataka when they wanted JDS-Congress alliance to be invited to form the Government. Instead, Karnataka Governor swore in the single largest BJP’s leader B S Yedyurappa as the CM on Wednesday morning.

The Supreme Court, on the other hand, held a post-midnight hearing on the Congress plea, but refused to stay the swearing in ceremony.

The Governor has also given 15 days to Yudyurappa to prove his majority on the floor of the House.

In Goa, Congress had 17 MLAs and the BJP had 13 in the 40-member House.

Still BJP leader Manohar Parrikar was sworn in as the CM because he had support of nine others of the MGP, Goa Forward and independents.

This decision of Goa Governor was also upheld by the Supreme Court.

In spite of this, in Karnataka, the Governor did not invite the JDS-Congress alliance which had more than the majority number – 116.

He invited the 104-member BJP, the single largest, which does not have majority of 112.

The Congress in Goa is now snatching this as an opportunity and demanding with Goa Governor to also invite them to form the Government.

They have also sought an appointment with the Governor before 10 in the morning and plan to be at Raj Bhavan before that. Listen to their argument.
