87 candidates file 117 nomination papers for 15 wards in Ponda

The battle lines are drawn for Ponda municipal election. 87 candidates have filed 117 nominations for 15 wards for the Ponda Municipal Council election.
Friday was the last day for filing nominations. Ward number five has a maximum number of nominations, that is 8 while ward 13 has a minimum number that is three.
The forms will be scrutinised on Monday.
Congress-backed Ponda Citizens Progressive Front, MGP and BJP-backed Ponda Nagrik Samiti have put up 15 candidates each.
Returning officer Vishal Kundaikar gave more details of the nominations.
