As voting day for the assembly elections 2022 draws closed, all parties are generally trying to manage the small rebellions that have been sprouting all over the place. Here is a roundup of what has been happening and the way they are being handled by various parties.

The BJP has been hit and hurt by revolts within the party. Today it held a press interaction where it sought to give a sense of unity in the party even as it has started a full blown effort to manage revolts in various constituencies.

Stalwart BJP leader and Former Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar bid adieus to the party after BJP declared sitting MLA Dayanand Sopte as candidate for Mandrem constituency. Parsekar alleged party has given ticket to a person who kept his project on standby when he was Chief Minister which made him to resign from membership of BJP. Parsekar has ended 32 year journey with BJP and decided to contest as Independent. Few days back son of former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, Utpal Parrikar had too resigned from BJP after being refused ticket. He has decided to contest as Independent.

It may be recalled that hardcore BJP karyakartas from Saligao had a massive revolt against the party after former Goa Forward MLA Jayesh Salgaonkar was inducted into the party. However, BJP has somehow managed to control the damage in Saligao constituency after it was successful to convince former BJP MLA and Minister Dilip Parulekar. Dilip who had revolted in past and has done homecoming in BJP to become state vice-president. Listen to what Dilip has to say.

Same suit follows with Congress too. The probable candidates are seen hitting out at parties for rejecting them ticket. Former Panaji Mayor and Babush’s close aid had left Babush and joined Congress and was promised ticket in Panaji Constituency. Uday said he would take call after Elvis Gomes was given Panaji ticket. Meanwhile, Salcette strongman Mickky Pacheco who joined Congress hoping ticket in Benaulim by turned down by Congress. Mickky has now joined NCP. While, another probable Congress candidate from Benaulim Royola Fernandes too has stepped down from party to go as independent.

Former Ponda MLA Ravi Naik alleged BJP has brought TMC and AAP to defeat Congress to fulfill BJP’s Congress mukth bharat mission. Lavu recently resigned from TMC and joined Congress to become candidate for Marcaim constituency

Aam Admi Party has witnessed its first setback. AAP’s Aldona candidate Dayanand Narvekar has resigned from party. Sources close to Narvekar said Narvekar was reluctant to contest in Porvorim on AAP ticket. However, the party higher ups refused his proposal and gave him ticket in Aldona. This led Narvekar to resign and has decided to contest in Porvorim against Rohan Khaunte as Independent.
