Goa's 'Amit Shah' is back; grand welcome to Satish Dhond

BJP's strongman Satish Dhond is back. And with a bang. Hundreds of slogan shouting workers greeted him at the party headquarters in Panaji .

He met the 40 office bearers of the party. But neither he nor any other party leader spoke to the media.

This is the third time Satish Dhond is coming back to Goa, after he was shunted out of the state.

Once when Shripad Naik was the President in 2003 and then in 2015, when Vinay Tendulkar was the party chief.

Now he is back almost after three and a half years, to streamline the party. It's in bad shape with CM Manohar Parrikar falling ill.

And former chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar and former Minister Mahadev Naik are at logger heads with the BJP top brass after the party admitted their rivals in Mandrem and Shiroda.

With this background, hundreds of workers had assembled at the party headquarter in Panaji to greet him with banners and slogans.

Known as Amit Shah of Goa, Satish Dhond was welcomed by party president Vinay Tendulkar and outgoing organising secretary Vijay Puranik.

Party's general secretary Sadanand Shet Tanavde, vice president Damu Naik and Rajendra Arlekar were also present. But neither Parsekar nor Mahadev.

None of them spoke to the media after Dhond met over 40 office bearers of the party from all the constituencies.
