The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party is conducting a survey to decide its candidates of Lok Sabha as well as three by-polls.

Also it will take opinions of local workers into consideration. And final decision would be then taken by the parliamentary board. Goa State Party President Vinay Tendulkar told Goa 365. Former Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has been demanding a survey in Mandrem constituency. But Tendulkar said their survey is going on in all the constituencies. For Lok Sabha as well as by-polls. Besides that, names would be shortlisted also after seeking opinions of Mandal committees and grassroot workers. He however did not say if Ramesh Tawadkar would be considered for Lok Sabha poll from South Goa. It’s clear that Dayanand Sopte and Subhash Shirodkar would be BJP candidates from Mandrem and Shiroda. But BJP is still to decide about Mapusa, the seat fallen vacant due to death of Francis D’Souza. But his son Joshua is considered to be the front runner. Tendulkar admits that Joshua’s name is also being considered. And Joshua says he is hopeful. Goa Suraksha Manch is a rebel group of RSS, led by Subhash Velingkar. They have said they will contest against local BJP, but if elected, will support Narendra Modi at the centre. Tendulkar feels that GSM should not field Lok Sabha candidates.
