Assembly Yr One: 6 MLAs including 4 ministers suffer with serious ailment

PWD minister Sudin Dhavalikar is the sixth MLA of the current Assembly, who has been hospitalized in the last one year. Till now, 4 BJP MLAs, one Congress MLA and one MGP MLA had to be hospitalized for serious ailments.



From them who are back in the field are Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and Urban development minister Francis D’ Souza.

The remaining four are still recovering. Two ministers – Pandurang Madkaikar and Sudin Dhavalikar – are still in Mumbai hospitals.

In fact these tragedies started happening since the previous 2012 Assembly.

BJP Minister Matanhy Saldanha  suffered a massive heart attack on 21st March 2012 and died at the age of 64.

By the time the term of the assembly came to an end, young and dynamic deputy speaker Vishnu Wagh was admitted to the hospital on 15th May 2016 after suffering a massive heart attack at the age of 51. Since then, he is  bedridden.

The current Assembly elected last year in March say BJP’s senior minister Francisco D’Souza falling sick. He is now recovering.

Then came the sudden shock of BJP’s Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar sickness. He was rushed to GMC on 25th February, then to Mumbai and then USA. The 63-year old politician has just returned from the USA after a prolonged treatment for his pancreatic ailment.

Soon after that was BJP MLA Carlos Almeida, suffered a paralytic attack on 9th May at the age of 55. He is now slowly recovering.

In the same month, Congress MLA Isidore Fernandes was operated for kidney and liver ailment. He is still resting at home.

Then came the sudden news of Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar suffering a massive brain stroke on 5th June, while in Mumbai.  The 54-year old politician is still in a Mumbai hospital.

And now the latest case of PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar. The 62-year old MGP leader was operated on 7th of July in Mumbai.
