After slow start Panaji records 75+% voting

After a slow start, Panaji recorded a voting percentage of 75.25. The other times Panaji had recorded such high percentage was in 2012 and 2017.



It was 78% then. The average voting percentage in the capital city is between 65 and 69. Panaji has a total electorate of little more that 22,482 out of which 16,918 voted.


Voting was largely peaceful and no untoward incident was reported. There was high turnout of senior citizens and persons with disabilities.


Total women voters are 11,785 while male voters are 10,697. At polling station number five entire, the entire voting set was replaced because of some faults.


In booth number 6 and 9 the VVPAT machines were replaced. Out of 115 persons with disabilities, 101 cast their votes.


The Collector gave details of one incident that happened during polling.
