On one hand political parties have started agitation over Mhadei issue. And on other hand, environmentalist Dr Nandkumar Kamat resigned from the Mhadei Bachao Abhiyan. He has blamed MBA leaders for their failure in getting the state water policy implemented in Goa.

Politicians are furious over centre issuing environmental clearance to Karnataka government to construct Kalsa-Bandura canal to divert Mhadei water.

But environmentalist and scientist Dr Nandkumar Kamat has raised a much more vital issue.

He feels water issue can’t be resolved with one Mhadei. Goa needs a state water policy.

Neither government is implementing it nor Mhadei Bachao Abhiyan is pursuing it with the government.

On the other hand, the sea level is rising and natural sources of water on the land are reducing, from 8520 MMC to 1761 MMC.
