Tendulkar said that the response of both was very positive and there was a need to start mining immediately as the season had already started. 

Now with the Lok Sabha elections just round the corner, the issue has become a hot potato, which the BJP would like to get rid of.

Things came to a head after the lease renewals of 88 mines was set aside.

The Goa assembly had passed a resolution asking the Centre to try and restart mining in the state as soon as possible. 

When asked if there was any discussion on portfolios, Tendulkar replied in the negative saying that  that decision was the chief minister prerogative.
