15 Jun 2019 06:22 PM

Full mining pits in mining areas are a issue. They can be a danger to surrounding areas.

Environmentalist Ramesh Gawas says that this issue cannot be sorted out at Mamlatdar level, but has to be handled at the central level.

He is also of the opinion that the courts should intervene.

A section of locals say that the Mining pits at Bicholim and the surrounding areas have become a hazard to life of the people living around them.

Gawas, says that the mamlatdar should take all aspects of the mining pits into consideration and not just the fact that it keeps filling up and then resolve the matter by pumping the water out.

Mulgao Sarpanch Prakash Ardonekar has requested the government to look into the matter.
