Mining could restart in Goa.

At least this is what the mining union feels. And the reason.

The government has given permission to one mine to restart mining in the state After all the angst and the heartburn over mining closure a stakeholder and union leader Puti Gaokar feels that no Goan mine needs a central Environment Clearance.

But all permissions can be obtained at the state level. And the recent amendment to the MMDR act is the way forward.

Mining has been closed for quite some time now.

The government is trying to sell the confiscated ore via e auction.

It tried to renewed 88 leases. This was struck down by the court.

The chief minister has been reiterating that mining from 18 mines can restart once permissions are obtained.

Puti Gaonkar has also challenged anybody to start mining in the mines that re closed via corporation
