Goa government has decided not to allow transportation of extracted iron ore from the lease properties of mines beyond 15th of March.

The truck and barge owners had demanded to allow transport of this ore. However, the government is seeking legal opinion on this.

The mining stakeholders led by BJP MLA Nilesh Cabral had met all the three ministers of cabinet advisory committee on Monday, demanding that they be allowed to transport the ore which is extracted till 15th of March.

But a meeting of concerned officials chaired by mines secretary decided not to allow it, but to send the request for legal opinion.

The mines secretary has also directed mines department to send its four inspecting team once again on 16th of March to all the mines to confirm that mining activity is stopped there.

These teams will have members of all the concerned departments.
