Goan People's Mining Front, reiterating that the 26 Feb bandh is on, alleged that the government wants to hand over the mines to certain companies through the auction route.

GMPF said the Supreme Court has clearly stated in its judgment mining can be restarted, and wanted to know wy the governemnt had not done anyuthing in the past year to restart mining.

Goan People's Mining Front has called for a bandh in the mining belt to protest against the non-resumption of mining activity in the state.

Puti said the purpose of the bandh is to show the strength of mining dependants and what they can do during the Lok Sabha elections.

Puti said Goa's mines come under a different law as far as mining is concerned as compared to other states of the union.
