Human animal conflict issue reared up in the assembly again on Friday. The Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said on Friday that the Government would reconsider its decision to declare certain species of wild animals as vermin.

He said that lack of fruit bearing trees and disturbances in the forest are the main cause of animals infiltrating into human habitat. And government would definitely look into it.

The issue came up in the assembly when Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar raised the issue of wild animal destroying the crops in his constituency and wanted to know what compensation was given to them by the government.

Agriculture Minister Babu Azgaonkar told him that 8.45 lakhs rupees compensation has been given to Sanguem farmers. Later, NCP MLA Churchill Alemao suggested a change in forest act to curb wild boar menace.

Thivim MLA Nilkhant Harlankar also complained about wild elephants from neighboring states destroying crops in Pirna village.
