People of Kutthali constituency led by BJP MLA Alina Saldanha have vehemently opposed doubling of railway track. In a meeting with South Goa Collector Ajit Roy and South Western Railway officials, villagers feared it will destroy heritage houses and increase dust pollution causing serious health problems.

Villagers of Cansaulim, Pale, Velsao and Issorcim have come together to jointly oppose doubling of the railway track.

According to them, 450-years-old heritage houses have already developed cracks due to constant and high frequency vibrations caused by heavy coal wagons.

Double track will have double impact. They are also concerned that coal pollution will spread all over the villages.
