A new kind of issue has cropped up at Santeri temple of Keri village in Ponda taluka.

A lady villager has asked why the gold she offered to the deity has never been displayed on the idol. She doubts if the gold is safe.

But the temple committee says they are following the by-laws of the temple as per which all the gold is kept in the bank lockers. Every item offered is not displayed on the idol.

Tara Kerkar of Savera has taken up the issue with Ponda police as well as Ponda Mamlatdar.

Shilpa Kerkar from Keri accuses temple president Dulu Kerkar of playing caste politics and her gold is not displayed on the deity because she belongs to a particular caste.
