Rent-a-cab issue: Michael, Agnelo at daggers drawn

And this is leading to rivalries getting revived and stands hardened all over.

In Calangute after a rally targeting the local MLA, accusations flew thick and fast.

The MLA blamed the former MLA for instigating the protest, a charge denied by the MLA. The former Congress MLA of Calangute Agnelo Fernandes hit out at his rival, the Calangute MLA Michael Lobo for accusing him of instigating rent-a-cab owners.

Agnelo said he has no part to play in the protest. He cannot help them as he is not in power but can sympathize them.

A couple of days back rent-a-cab owners from Calangute had protested against Deputy speaker and Calangute MLA Michael Lobo accusing him of snatching business from locals and giving it to outsiders.

They had also met Transport Director Nikhil Dessai demanding to revoke of all the permissions given to non-Goan rent-a-cab operator.
