Mopa airport: 15,000 cashew trees cut at Casarvanem, locals upset

03 Nov 2018 07:26 PM

Around 15,000 cashew trees have been cut in Casarvanem village by contractor who is building the Mopa greenfield airport.

This upset locals who live around the airport.

They allege that trees from their plantations have been mercilessly felled without obtaining any permission.

Aggrieved locals say their village is situated more than two kilometres from the Mopa airport site.

They also argue that they have not been informed that  their fruit-bearing trees would be cut.
