Mining spoiled our fields, cry Mayem farmers

The production of paddy has reduced by half due to nearby mines, alleged Mayem farmers.



Earlier paddy was grown without any fertilizers. But now a lot of fertilizers are used.


And mines are responsible for it, alleged the farmers. They have demanded action against those reponsible for spoiling the fields.


Mayekars presently depend on farming. But now they are facing lots of problems.


The rejection from the mines has spoiled the fields. Farmers are complaining for last several years, but the government is not serious and cheating the people, says Mulakh Khajan Mayem farmers.


The rejection mud of mines is settled in various fields in Mayem.


The soil testing should be conducted and government should think of how to make land cultivable once again, Mayem Nagarik Kriti Samiti president and farmer Kashinath Mayekar demanded.
